- Sevenoaks in Madison
- Sophia House in Louisa County
- Sandbridge, VA
Retreat Location Descriptions: Flower Camp Higher Ground, a private retreat center near Charlottesville, Virginia, consists of roughly 250 acres of land nestled in the mountains with access to the James River. There are four old Victorian style houses with fireplaces and upstairs/downstairs porches with rockers, swings, hammock, a barn for group dances and games, hiking trails, and a ropes course. The gathering room and fully modern kitchen are filled with windows and a wrap-around porch. Higher Ground invites you into the seclusion and quiet of a weekend at home with no interruptions from the modern world.
Sophia House in Louisa County The major goal of Sophia House is to provide an atmosphere of hospitality conducive to study, dialogue, creative planning, rest, relaxation, recreation, and respite for children and adults, for individuals, couples, and families, and for non-profit groups, government agencies, businesses, and industries. The design of the facility is unique in that it makes all areas available to everyone; thus, accessibility will be the norm rather than the exception. Although Sophia House will be open to people of all abilities, it will provide the nearly 1 in 7 Virginians who have physical, visual, or hearing impairments with a center where they can fully participate in the program they are attending.
